If you’re in the DC area, I’m pretty sure you’ve already at least heard of Top Chef star Mike Isabella’s restaurant Graffiato. Starting last month, Graffiato began hosting Industry Takeover Night on the first Monday night of every month. From 10pm to 1am guest chefs serve patrons complimentary bites at the first floor bar, and while 10pm may seem to be a bit late for a Monday night believe me when I say, IT’S WORTH IT! Gina and I had an absolute ball! Most of the time when you go somewhere and there is complimentary food, a few plates come out intermittently and you’re left feeling like you should have eaten before you got there, but this definitely was not the case at Graffiato! The food just kept coming and coming and coming!
The night was hosted by Scott Drewno, executive chef of The Source, Erik Bruner-Yang and Colin Sugalski of Toki Underground as well as fellow Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn of Good Stuff Eatery/We, The Pizza. I figured it would be a little crowded but the house was packed, the music was pumping and the vibe was just right.
Gina & I were lucky enough to be able to snag a spot at the bar right in the midst of it all.
There were duck lettuce wraps with hoisin sauce, beef tongue & wonton noodle soupduck with zucchini, pork dumplings
lamb ribs, rockfish cups with coconut cream on a bed of bok choy and kale, as well as a spicy noodle and basil pizza that nearly set our mouths on fire lol. *Oh hey Chef Spike!*
Industry Takeover Night gets two thumbs up and an definite A+++. Great vibes, great food & great people; what more could you ask for??
If you haven’t checked out Industry Takeover Night at Graffiato, we strongly suggest you add March 4th to your calendar!
