There are lots of things going on in this great city of DC! Here is a list of things you may be interested in.

Dyanna and I recently visited Union Market. Union Market is similar to Eastern Market but just in the NE area. It’s located by Gallaudet University. Last weekend was its grand opening and we were able to see some of the vendors who would be housed there. I’m happy to see that some of the food trucks (DC Empanadas, Curbside Cupcakes and DC Takorean) have locations here.

Some of the vendors that caught my eye were Rappahannock Oysters CompanyBuffalo & Bergen, which sells hand crafted sodas made by the locally famous Gina Chersevani; and Sweet Freeze, which makes their ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Check out the pictures below.

So if you are looking for a place to get fresh, organic produce, I would say give Union Market a try. As well, Union Market would make for a great date spot as it provide many options to choose from. Here are some of their upcoming events.

Some other fun things happening in and around DC…

H Street Festival

The H Street Festival takes place tomorrow, September 15 from Noon to 7pm. With five stages of music and entertainment, vendors, food and beverages, it sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday.

POP: Pilates on the Patio

Poste Moderne Brasserie has started up their pilates on the patio again. After a 45-minute class, enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne. Or you could chose to stay for brunch (menu). The $19 class is offered every Saturday beginning tomorrow until October 6 and begins at 10am. Visit here to register.

Chef Geoff’s Rockville

Washingtonian reports that Chef Geoff’s opened a location in Rockville this week. Their great happy hour is available at the Rockville location, too. And for all the pork lovers, the Bacon Bar will be available in October.

Football! Football! Football!

Looking for a place to watch the game? Check out Washington Post’s list of places to watch here. And did you know that Papa John’s has a Redskins deal called Touchdowns for Toppings. For every touchdown scored, customers get a free topping and a Redskins win gets double the toppings. (That means last Monday, you got an eight topping pizza for $9.99.) Just thought that might be of interest to some folks.

Anything else happening in DC (or MD/VA) I should know about? Drop me a line!
