Today begins one of the most exciting and hectic times for fashion mavens everywhere, New York Fashion Week(NYFW).

Hundreds of designers will be showing their Spring 2013 collections at Lincoln Park and various locations throughout the city for magazine editors, buyers, stylists, celebs, fashion lovers and the like.

Every year while living in NYC, I would take a trip to NYFW, whether in the Spring or Fall and whether I was attending a show or not, just to feel the energy of fashion week. If you’re a lover of fashion, there’s nothing like it!

A complete list of major designers and their showtimes/locations can be found here, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

New York Fashion Week kicks off with a party, done only the way the fashion industry can, with Fashion’s Night Out(FNO).

In 2009, the CFDA and Vogue, came up with Fashion’s Night Out as a means to encourage consumers to come out to shop during the economic downturn. What better way to start fashion week than with a huge shopping party, right?? What started as a night of shopping events in New York City, 4 years ago, has grown into a global affair.

Starting at around 5/6 this evening, countless stores will be offering unique shopping experiences that include special discounts, live djays, hors d’oeuvres/cocktails and everybody’s favorite: swag bags.

Naturally the epicenter for DC’s FNO events will be Georgetown; however events will also be taking place at Mazza Galleria, Arlington and at area malls.
